Dwarf Lionfish in Kilifi

In Marine Life, Renee's Journal, Videos

Lionfish are common to see while diving and snorkeling in East Africa but Dwarf Lionfish (Dendrochirus brachypterus) are a somewhat rare and mysterious sight. This one was filmed in a lagoon off the coast of Kilifi, Kenya while snorkeling. Notice how well the Dwarf Lionfish is camouflaged on the submerged log, it’s webbed pictorial fins and marble-like greenish eyes. Definitely not a fish you see everyday.
